Canadian Coalition for Farmed Animals - An organization dedicated to promoting the welfare of animals raised for food in Canada through public education, legislative change and consumer choice.

WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals) - WSPA is an animal welfare charity organization that works internationally and locally to end cruelty to animals through field work, campaigning, and education.

V4A recommends:

Alberta Animal Rescue Crew (AARC) Society - AARC is a non-profit organization whose mandate is to rescue abandoned, surrendered or abused small animals from First Nations Communities in Central Alberta and place these animals in the safety of a foster home system while awaiting suitable placement in forever, adoptive homes.

Animal Advocates Society of BC - A group dedicated to the four-Rs of animal advocacy: Research, Rescue, Rehabilitate, Rehome. Their goal is to save dogs and cats from abandonment and suffering.

Animal Alliance of Canada - Animal Alliance of Canada is committed to the protection of all animals and the promotion of a harmonious relationship among people, animals and the environment.

The Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) - A Calgary based group dedicated to finding permenant homes for rescued animals.

Animal Rights U of A - A student animal rights group on the University of Alberta campus. This group does not have a website, but follow the link for contact information.

Beagle Paws Rescue - This is a Newfoundland based organization devoted to rescuing Beagles. They have ties to many areas across the country, including Edmonton.

Bear Valley Rescue - A horse rescue in Bear Valley Alberta, dedicated to saving horses slated to be slaughtered, or who have been abandoned or abused.

Big Heart Rescue - Big Heart Rescue works within the Province of British Columbia with a special focus on small First Nations Reserves, such as Bella Bella and Shear Water on the Central Coast and Kuper Island in the Gulf Islands. We refer to our work in these communities as "Spirits Mission". The Big Heart Rescue Society was formally organized as a non-profit charity August 2002 and since this time many, many companion animals have been vaccinated, sterilized, vetted, fostered and adopted.

Dogs Matter - A site dedicated to the plight of abandoned dogs on Canadian Reservations.

EcoGear - Ecogear's mission is to simply offer everyday consumer products that will not harm the environment in its manufacture, its use and its end fate.  Check out the fantastic anti-roadside zoo shirt ... a portion of which will help V4A out (just let them know we sent you)!

Ecotourism in America - This is a website entirely devoted to nature based travel in the Americas. Here you can find a detailed description of each establishment organized by name, country or activity.

Guzoo Animal Farm - A site dedicated to exposing the cruelty occuring on the Guzoo Animal Farm in Three Hills, Alberta.

Happy Endings Rabbit Rescue - A volunteer organization devoted to rescuing rabbits, and educating the public about rabbits. 

Healing With Horses - Home of Spirit Of The Red Horse Sanctuary.  Not only a home for abandoned and abused horses, donkeys, etc., but also a healing place for humans.

Humane Animal Rescue Team - The Humane Animal Rescue Team (HART) is a non-profit organization
committed to rescuing stray, abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats from rural areas including First Nations surrounding Edmonton, Alberta and place them in permanent homes. HART also provides programs that promote responsible pet ownership, and prevent cruelty to animals.

HSI/Canada (The Humane Society International/Canada) - HSI/Canada works to protect all animals through education, investigation, litigation, legislation, advocacy, and field work. We are an effective voice for animals, with active programs in companion animals, wildlife and habitat protection, marine mammal preservation and farm animal welfare.

IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare) - The International Fund for Animal Welfare works to improve animal welfare, prevent animal cruelty and abuse, protect wildlife and provide animal rescue around the world.

Love Canada Geese.com - A site dedicated to the protection of Canada geese.

McDonald Family Animal Rescue - The McDonald family has been rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing small domestic and exotic animals for more then ten years. Most of the animals they take in are small exotic and domestic animals such as reptiles, amphibians, rabbits, rodents, and birds. The McDonald Family Animal Rescue has recently acquired charitable status, so please be sure to donate generously.

MEOW Foundation - A foundation for the adoption of abandoned cats in the Calgary area.

Paws for Compassion - A site and blog dedicated to the promotion of animal rights and veganism.

Paws and Claws - A system of volunteer foster homes in the Red Deer, Sylvan Lake, Eckville and Edmonton area who take in needy dogs, puppies, cats and kittens and provide them with loving care until a suitable home is found.

Peaceful Prairie Sanctuary - A safe haven for farmed animals who have been given a second chance at life.

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) - PETA is dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals. PETA operates under the simple principle that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment.

Rescue for Life - A group dedicated to rescuing and rehoming dogs.

Reserve Dog and Puppy Rescue - A site dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of reserve dogs.

SAFE Team -  Saving Animals From Euthanasia Team is dedicated to rescuing animals who are facing euthanization at Edmonton Area Shelters when they do not have the space to hold them.

Save The Dogs From The Chill Project -  An organization trying to save shelter dogs from the freezing cold by taking in used sweaters (donated) and then recycling them into doggy sweaters for all the dogs stuck outside the shelters this time of year.

Second Chance Animal Rescue Society (SCARS) - A group dedicated to rescuing and rehoming animals in the Athabasca, Alberta region.

The McDonald Family Animal Rescue - A sanctuary for abandoned and surrendered small animals to be rehabilitated and re-homed.

Vegan Outreach - Vegan Outreach is working to expose and end cruelty to animals through the widespread distribution of their illustrated booklets.

Vegetarians of Alberta - Vegetarians of Alberta (VOA) is a registered nonprofit society formed in 1989 to serve people who are interested in learning about, adopting and/or maintaining a vegetarian lifestyle.

Voice of the Voiceless - Voice of the Voiceless is interested in working collectively across the country to ban the permanent chaining and isolation of dogs, and to enact legislation to ban the use of industrial guard dogs.

Wild Rose Equine Rescue - The goal of this group is to rescue, protect and prevent the abuse of equines through rescue operations, education, investigations and advocacy.

Zoocheck Canada - A national animal protection charity established in 1984 to promote and protect the interests and wellbeing of wild animals.
