When a man wants to murder a tiger he calls it sport; when the tiger wants to murder him he calls it ferocity.

Edmonton Cat Killings

There have been a string of cat mutilations in the West Edmonton and St. Albert areas. for this reason, you need to be aware of a few things:

First and foremost, keep you cat indoors. Indoor cats will not be subject to abuse, and will live longer, happier lives. If you let your cat outdoors, then please keep a very close eye on him/her.

Report any animal death found. You can report animal deaths to the Edmonton Humane Society at (780) 491-3502 or (780) 491-3517.

Report any suspicious behavior to the police. If you notice someone acting strangely around a cat, or in some way abusing a cat, please report the crime to the police (911) who can respond immediately. The animal protection line above may go into voice mail if the protection officers are out.

Offer your protection to a cat in need. Know of a stray cat in your area? Keep an eye out for him/her. If the cat is not feral, but just homeless, see if the cat can be socialized into a home. We offer space on our site for rescue animal adoptions. Email us to see if we can help out.

Get the message out to everyone who has a cat. Post this poster in your area. Not everyone is aware that we have this issue in the city. Let everyone know by posting this on your work bulletin board, on a lamp post, etc.

With your help, we can catch the sick person/people who are doing this.
